Process for the Inclusive Education Audit (IEA)
The proposed audit timeline has information that can help you understand how long each stage might take and what steps and meetings could be involved. You might find the proposed structure for meetings useful alongside this.
To start the process, you will need to complete the following two parts.
Part 1: Education Setting Audit tool
This is a self-reflection tool for education settings to audit their current inclusive education. The audit tool is to be completed by the setting's senior leadership team and governors, with input from staff. You can download the Word document of the Part 1 - Education Settings Audit Tool.

Part 2: IEA online questionnaires
The information from these questionnaires are used to support the process of understanding inclusive practice in all education settings across the Southampton city council area. The results of this questionnaire will be anonymous.
There are two types of questionnaires you can complete. One is for parents or carers to complete once per pupil, and one is to be completed by the pupil.

What happens next
Once the two parts have been completed, a cycle of improvement and support begins.
Stage 1: Creation of improvement plan
All elements of the Inclusive Education Audit will be utilised to create an action plan to improve inclusive education.
Stage 2: Implementation Support
A range of support will then be provided to implement action plan. This includes, but is not limited to, supportive visits, updated Ordinarily Available Provision (OAP) guidelines and peer mentoring opportunities.
Stage 3: Review of inclusive education
After two terms or an agreed timeframe to implement the action plan, inclusive education practice is then reviewed using the toolkit. The process is then routinely completed each year.
