Council data

The Local Government Transparency Code sets out categories of information that all councils should be publishing. We are committed to openness and transparency and publishing as much council data as we can to increase our accountability.

  • Expenditure over £500
    This information provides details of payments to suppliers where the invoice was £500 or over
  • Government procurement card transactions
    Details of spending on Council payment cards
  • Procurement information
    Details of any contract, commissioned activity, purchase order, framework agreement and any other legally enforceable agreement with a value that exceeds £5,000. Details of invitation to tender for contacts to provide goods and/or services with a value that exceeds £10,000 - these can be found on the e-Source portal
  • Prompt Payment Performance
    Under the Government's Prompt Payment Policy, it is a requirement for public sector bodies including local authorities to publish annual payment performance data. This consists of: percentage of invoices paid within 30 days; the amount of interest paid to suppliers due to lay payment; and the amount of interest the local authority was liable to pay for example whether paid or not

    The ratio between the highest paid officer, the Chief Executive and the median earnings figure of the whole workforce
  • Gender pay gap
    A snapshot of pay that shows the difference in earnings between women and men
  • Fraud
    Counter fraud investigation work is carried out by the Department for Work and Pensions on behalf of Southampton City Council. Southampton City Council Internal Audit are also involved in counter fraud work
  • Waste collection contract
    This service is delivered in-house by the council
  • Waste disposal contracts
    These contracts are procured and managed by Hampshire County Council (HCC) - see HCC open data

Council spending

Statement of Accounts - The annual statement shows how we have used public money and that we have been honest and responsible. It has been prepared in accordance with the Accounting Code of Practice. The statement includes information regarding Chief Officers remuneration and staff who earn £50k per annum or more.
