About SSCP

• The work of the SSCP is governed by the Executive and SSCP Main Board who meet quarterly to ensure the statutory obligations are fulfilled and progress is reviewed for optimum impact for children and young people
• Partners contribute to a range of sub-group activity designed to quality assure safeguarding across the city and identify areas for improvement with a range of audit activity, analysis and policy/procedure review
• In Southampton the sub-groups work collaboratively to facilitate growth and challenge when required

The annual report is another document that all safeguarding partnerships have a duty to produce. It gives an annual update on what we've delivered from our strategic plan. You can read our annual report.

All Safeguarding Children’s Partnerships have to produce a strategic plan that sets out what they'll do each year to keep children safe. We use the plan as a measure to see how well we're doing and what whether we've achieved what we set out to each year. You can read our strategic plan.

Sometimes a child a child suffers serious injury or death as a result of abuse or neglect.

The purpose of child safeguarding practice review is to identify improvements that can be made to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. Understanding not only what happened but why it happened can help improve the response of organisations and agencies working with children and families in the future.
