'Southampton (City Depot)' is the third last option on the booking platform. Select your preferred centre, then follow the on-screen instructions to book your visit. You can review your booking before confirming this.
About Southampton HWRC
Veolia UK Limited manage the Southampton recycling site.
The HWRC (known by many as 'the tip' or 'the dump') is a site where you can take a wide range of items and materials to be recycled instead of throwing them away.
Opening hours and visiting
The HWRC is usually open seven days a week. It is is closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day.
The site closes from 12.30-1pm every day. The opening hours change depending on the time of year. The site is open from:
- 9am to 5pm from 1 March to 31 March
- 9am to 6pm from 1 April to 30 September
- 9am to 4pm from 1 October to 28 February

Access for cyclists
Cyclists with a booking can visit Southampton HWRC. Cyclists will be treated the same as other vehicles. They must:
- Join the queue
- Not overtake other vehicles
- Park into a parking bay
- Comply with the Highway Code
Cyclists must not dismount their bicycles while entering, queuing, and exiting the HWRC.
We recommend that cyclists wear high visibility clothing.

There is no pedestrian access at Southampton HWRC.
