About Southampton Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC)

The Southampton recycling site is managed for the council by Veolia UK Ltd.

The HWRC (known by many as 'the tip' or 'the dump') is a site where you can take a wide range of items and materials to be recycled instead of throwing them away.

The HWRC is open seven days a week (closed 12.30-1pm), except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day when the site is closed.

  • 9am to 5pm 1 March to 31 March
  • 9am to 6pm 1 April to 30 September
  • 9am to 4pm 1 October to 28 February

Bookings are required

Please note that bookings are required for visits to all Hampshire HWRCs. Same day bookings are available and can be made online or by phone. There is no height restriction at Southampton City Depot HWRC.
