Sidebar

The sidebar is mainly designed for standard pages but can be used with promo pages and new stories.

On mobile, it sits below the main content.

Use cases

• Pulling out important facts such as phone numbers and opening times, that might take people longer to find in a mass of content.
• Calls for action repeated across a section
• Supplementary information

It shouldn't be used for details that would sit better in the main run of content. The Web Team will only implement a sidebar if its use is appropriate.

The sidebar must be shorter than the main content.

Changeable elements

• The colour of the side-border, though this will be the council's default dark blue, unless another colour scheme has been approved by Design. The background colour is not changeable
• Images can be added.
