Reclaiming your vehicle

A vehicle removed as abandoned can be returned to the registered keeper within 10 days of its removal.

To request the return of your vehicle either you can call us on 023 8083 3008 or send us an email at abandoned.vehicles@southampton.gov.uk

The fee for this service depends on how long it has been since your vehicle was removed.

You will need to go to Gateway in person to pay for the return of your vehicle. You will also be asked to provide:

• Proof of vehicle ownership
• A contact number which our contractor will use to liaise with you regarding delivery of the vehicle

Returning the vehicle

The vehicle will be returned to the place from which it was removed, within 48 hours of your request for its return.

You will need to tax your vehicle within seven days or run the risk of it being removed again if it is left untaxed on the highway.
