Season tickets

If you park in Southampton on a regular basis, including in the city centre, you may benefit from buying a season ticket to get cheaper parking.

New parking systems

The council are in the process of implementing new parking systems at our barrier controlled multi-storey car parks (MSCPs).

These sites are:

• Bedford Place MSCP, Salisbury Street SO15 2TZ
• Eastgate MSCP, Eastgate Street SO14 3HH
• Grosvenor Square MSCP, Grosvenor Square SO15 2BE
• Marlands MSCP, Harbour Parade SO15 1BA

The new parking systems will operate via an automatic number plate recognition system at the entrances and exits. Users will be able to pay for parking:

• At a pay station with cash or card (as per the current method)
• At the exit barrier by card payment,
• Via an app that can be downloaded to your phone

The new parking systems will be implemented via a phased approach. Grosvenor Square Multi-storey car park will be the first site to receive the new system. Works are currently due to begin on Monday 20 October 2025.

We will contact existing season ticket holders at these sites to advise how these will work going forward. We will also contact users of the current Decrementing Card system. If you have not received an email by Friday 10 October 2025, please email parking.enquiries@southampton.gov.uk with details of your existing season ticket or decrementing card.

City centre season tickets

The city centre is defined as the area within the boundary of the pay and display zone (controlled zone). Entry signs are placed on all major routes. You can see the boundary on our parking map.

Any existing weekend season tickets will now be treated as being valid on evenings and weekends.

What happens after I apply for a season ticket?

Please allow five working days for the season ticket to be posted to you. If you need it sooner than this, you can still complete an application online. Once you have submitted and paid for your application, you will need to visit Gateway on the same day to collect your ticket. Please have your application reference number or receipt to hand when you visit.

If you are not able to collect on the same day but do not wish us to post the season ticket, please call the Parking team to let us know and we will hold onto the season ticket until you are ready to collect it.

Misuse of a season ticket is fraud. We will investigate all reports of the misuse of tickets.

Section 115 of the Road Traffic Regulations Act, 1984

This provides penalties for any person who makes a false statement to obtain a season ticket or with intent to deceive, forges, or alters, or uses, or lends to, or allows to be used, or has in their possession any document so closely resembling any such season ticket as to be calculated to deceive.

Replace or cancel a season ticket

If you have lost or damaged your season ticket, there is no need to reapply. Please visit Gateway to pay the administration charge of £14 by credit or debit card so we can re-issue the season ticket.

Please note we do not offer refunds for season tickets. The prices given for season tickets are aimed at providing better value when purchased for longer periods. Customers should consider this when purchasing a season ticket.
