School and college travel information for families
Latest update – 14 August 2025
We are currently arranging travel for the start of the new school year in September 2025. We are aiming to share confirmed travel arrangements by the end of August 2025. If you would like to get in touch about travel for a child or young person, please use our online form.
Post-16 transport: We are aiming to have transport arrangements in place as soon as possible. However, due to the timing of GCSE results and colleges finalising their timetables, there may be a delay. Transport will be available by early October, but we will try to get it in place sooner, where possible. Parents, carers, and young people will need to make their own arrangements in September. You can claim mileage by using this form.
The deadline for applying for Mainstream school travel was 31 May 2025. Any applications received after this date will be classed as ‘late applications’ and means that travel support may not be in place for the start of the school term in September.
How will your child get to school?
When choosing a school place, it is important to think about how your child, student or adult learner will travel to and from school each day. Most families organise their own home to school journey, like walking, cycling, using public transport or lift-sharing with other families.
However, we have a duty to support children, students or adult learners with their school journey, providing they meet specific criteria for this support.
School Travel Applications for September 2025
Please ensure that your school travel application is on time and submit it by these dates.
Applications received after these dates will be treated as late applications. This means that travel may not be in place for the start of the school year.
