Southampton Neurodiversity Team - information for professionals

Any professional working with a child or young person is able to complete the NDPT, however this must be completed in conversation with the parent/carer and young person where age appropriate. A rolling programme of training will be completed to ensure that a wide range of practitioners and agencies across Southampton are trained to use the tool. We do advocate that it is important that all agencies involved are part of the profiling exercise to ensure that there is a clear picture of needs.

The young person and their parent/carer can access the profile at any time. In addition, any professional working with the young person (where parental consent has been given) e.g. after school club.

The NDPT should be reviewed after a maximum of six months. However it may be reviewed more frequently if deemed appropriate.

Log in access to the NDPT is transferable and the new setting will be able to access the profile and suggested strategies, and continue to review the profile.

No. The NDPT can be used to identify support needed at any time, ideally as soon as potential challenges are identified.

The profile can be used at any time e.g. post-diagnosis, while awaiting diagnosis or when a diagnosis is not being sought.

Yes. A reviewed NDPT fits perfectly into a plan, do, review cycle and will provide a valuable source of evidence when seeking out further support or interventions.
