Crosshouse Hard

A little know waterfront open space next to the Itchen Bridge. There is seating overlooking the water with grassed banks and some shrub planting. Most of this space is given over to car parking. There is a Public Hard to launch boats from. The building which give the space its name is the Crosshouse. The earliest record of this building is 1577 but it probably predates this. It sat at the landing site of the old Itchen Ferry, offering shelter for waiting passengers whichever way the wind was blowing.
