Southampton’s Outdoor Sports Centre

The Outdoor Sports Centre is a unique facility in the city, providing a diverse range of sports and activities for people to enjoy.
The Outdoor Sports Centre Masterplan will improve the quality of life in our city by providing inclusive access to sport and deliver sustainable economic, social, health and wellbeing outcomes.
February 2025 update
Preparation works at the Outdoor Sports Centre are soon to begin.
Morgan Sindall will be carrying out activities prior to the main works starting to ensure the project can progress. The works include tree removals and service diversions.
In line with the approved planning application, 36 trees will be removed. The majority of trees are located near the existing block one building (next to the hockey and football pitches) and the Ski Lodge. To ensure safety and minimise environmental impact, there will be areas which are restricted in order to remove the trees. As part of the Outdoor Sports Centre improvement programme 126 new trees will be planted.
Additionally, essential utility works will be carried out on Hill Lane, including parts of the road being dug up in preparation for road construction. Further details regarding these works will be provided to local residents in the coming weeks.
The sports centre will remain open as usual throughout this period.
