St Mary’s Community and Leisure Centre

Building a bright and sustainable future for St Mary's Community and Leisure Centre

St Mary's Leisure Centre

From Monday 31 March 2025, St Mary’s Community and Leisure Centre will be closed for essential refurbishment works to ensure a new operator to take control of the centre in the autumn. The last day it will be open is Sunday 30 March 2025.

Details of the repair works

Building repairs to the centre include internal works such as upgrades to the accessible toilets, lighting, and electrical improvements in some areas of the venue, as well as works on heating and cooling. Externally, work will also be carried out to the roofs, with a replacement of the main sports hall roof and repairs to other sections of the roof. There will also be repairs to the fire escape routes and exits.

These essential works will be carried out so that the venue can operate under a new provider as a venue that the local community can use and enjoy for a wide range of activities for many years to come. St Mary’s Community and Leisure Centre will benefit from a £2.5 million investment during the closure period to complete the project.

Current and future management

Local provider Testlands was appointed to manage St Mary's Community and Leisure Centre as the long-term leaseholder. St Mary’s closed on Monday 31 March whilst essential works take place. Once works are complete, Testlands will take over the management and day-to-day running of the centre. The building will remain wholly owned by Southampton City Council.
