Southampton City Council appoints interim Chief Executive
Following a meeting of the Chief Officer Employment Panel on 19 January, Southampton City Council has appointed Andrew Travers as interim Chief Executive
Andrew brings experience from both the public and private sector, and has previously served as Chief Executive of Barnet Council, and the London Borough of Lambeth. Andrew will be starting in post on Monday 29 January.
Leader of the Council and Chair of the employment panel, Councillor Lorna Fielker said:
“I’m delighted that we have found such an experienced Chief Executive with a track record of delivering fast and effective council transformation. We have moved quickly to secure Andrew and I’m looking forward to working with him to deliver a strong and sustainable council for the people and businesses of Southampton.”
Andrew added:
“Having previously led two councils through periods of significant transformation, I was drawn to the challenge in Southampton. This is an incredibly difficult time for local authorities across the country and it is no different here. However, the conversations I’ve had with officers and politicians have convinced me that we have the vision and skills we need to deliver a truly effective transformation over the coming months. I’m looking forward to getting started on the 29 January.”
