Rentokil Initial colleagues were invited to nominate local causes close to their hearts, and Rentokil Pest Control’s Southampton team were keen to help this year's Southampton Christmas Toy Appeal.

Today, they invited representatives from Southampton City Council along to their branch meeting to accept a cheque for £1,600, but their support will not stop there. Local colleagues have also pledged to help with the transport and distribution of the gifts in the lead up to Christmas.

Councillor Alex Winning, Cabinet Member for Children and Learning said: "We are grateful to Rentokil for supporting the Southampton Toy Appeal with such a generous donation. I’d also like to thank the staff who have pledged their help to ensure children and young people wake up on Christmas morning to toys and gifts."

Set up in 1988, the Southampton Toy Appeal collects donations of new toys and gifts for vulnerable children and young people, who are supported by Southampton’s Children’s Services and are aged from birth through to 18 years, to receive. Additionally, the scheme also helps a number of families experiencing severe financial difficulties.
