Passing of Councillor Terry Streets
Councillor for Bitterne Ward since 2018
Councillor Terry Streets, Councillor for Bitterne Ward, has passed away.
Councillor Streets worked as a councillor since his election in 2018 and was a much loved and respected Councillor and member of the Conservative Group within the Council.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at this difficult time.
Leader of the Council, Councillor Satvir Kaur, said:
"We are all shocked and saddened to learn of this terrible news. Cllr Terry Streets was liked and respected by all councillors and known for not only his work as a tireless champion for his ward, Bitterne, but his advocacy for many causes, including mental health. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and many friends at this difficult time. The Council, and our city, are all poorer for this loss."
Leader of the Conservative Group, Councillor Marley Guthrie, said:
"It is with incredible sadness that we have learnt of Terry’s passing. He chose to become a councillor because he wanted to make a difference for the people of this city, and he never lost sight of that goal.
"Terry was a good man with a kind nature who was beloved by so many people. His dedication to his community is an example to us all and our thoughts are with Terry’s friends and family, he will be very sorely missed by us all."
