Reading groups
Enjoy reading and want to talk about it?
A reading group is just what you need. If you relish a good read and lively chat, why not come along and share your reading experience with like-minded people in an informal and friendly atmosphere.
There are a number of groups to choose from and you can find them all by visiting Reading groups for everyone, where you will find details of reading groups in Southampton.
If you are interested in joining a particular group, please feel free to contact the group organiser.
Library membership for reading groups
Join up at your local library and start borrowing reading group books for free. Each set is made up of between six to ten copies and there are over 200 titles to choose from.
View the reading groups book list, updated February 2024.
Once your group has a library card, staff will reserve books, arrange to have them ready for collection and answer any queries. They will need to know the title of the book, number of copies required, a date for collection and which library you want to collect the books from.
Request books from us by:
- Email: reading.group@southampton.gov.uk
- Phone: 023 8083 3007
Books can be borrowed for six weeks and reserved free of charge. The group contact will be responsible for requesting books and making sure they are returned.
