What types of roles are available?
Adult social care providers are looking for staff to support people in care homes and their own homes. Whilst providers advertise their own roles, below are some main descriptions of roles available to you:
- Care Home Worker - Supporting care home residents with their individual needs. This may include assisting them with walking, dressing, and accessing the community, whilst monitoring their health
- Home Care Worker - Caring for residents who live in their own homes by supporting them with activities such as preparing meals, shopping, and washing. Your work will enable residents to live as independently as possible, adding to your sense of personal achievement
- Personal Assistant - You will be employed by someone to help meet their individual care needs. Your role could vary depending on the needs of the person. For example, some people may have varied and complex needs, whilst others may need assistance with less complex activities such as grocery shopping
Additional roles available to you
- Reablement Worker - You will be given excellent quality training to assist residents to regain their independence after they have suffered from illness or stayed in the hospital for prolonged periods. Your support and encouragement will help residents to go about their daily activities independently again
- Care Coordinator- You will develop, advise upon, and monitor residents’ care plans. You will be trained to arrange the support that the resident needs and undertake quality assurance tasks
- Registered Manager/Deputy Manager - You will be given responsibility for the daily operations of the service. These responsibilities can include budget management, staff recruitment, application of care legislation, and the provision of quality service
- Many other roles are available, such as Activity Coordinators, Kitchen Assistants, and Housekeepers
