Love reading but can’t get to the library? We’ve got you covered!

If you are a book worm but health reasons, a disability or transport problems prevent you from getting to the library, you can sign up to receive library books delivered to your door – for free!

How it works

Each month our fully trained staff will call you to talk about the books you enjoy reading and reserve some suitable titles for you.  You can choose from thousands of titles including audio books and larger print formats.

The books will be delivered to your home and then collected when you are finished with them. It’s a convenient, hassle-free way to borrow and return library books with no fines.

Deliveries are made by environmentally friendly electric cargo bikes so you can enjoy your books knowing you're also supporting a greener planet. The service is funded through the Solent Future Transport Zone.

How to sign up

If you (or someone you know who spends a lot of time at home) would like to join, simply email the home library team or call on 023 8083 3007 to sign up and let us bring the joy of reading directly to you!

Library activities

Don’t forget, if you are able to get to your local library in person, there is a lot more to discover than borrowing books. Libraries provide free access to computers and the internet and there are a wide range of free activities on offer for all ages – from book sales to quiz nights, and job clubs to knitting groups and even parent and toddler rhyme time! Check our library web pages or ask at your local library for more details of upcoming events and activities.
