The clean team adding a touch of sparkle to your neighbourhood

Keeping blocks of flats and council neighbourhoods clean and tidy is a crucial job, and our cleaning team work tirelessly to make sure local areas look their best so you can feel proud of where you live

We have a team of 26 cleaners across the city who are responsible for keeping communal areas in blocks of flats spick and span. They look after the stairs, landings, foyers, communal doors, internal windows, lifts, bin and shed areas, and carry out a clean in tower blocks every weekday. Walk-up blocks are cleaned every four weeks.

You may have noticed the cleaners busy at work in your block, and it is important to us that you are satisfied they’re doing a good job. If you have any suggestions or concerns about the cleaning service please let us know either by contacting your Local Housing Office or by completing our cleaning survey. If you have received a cleaning survey card through your letterbox please take the time to complete and return it, or simply complete the quick online cleaning survey to let us know what you think.

We’re also looking for tenants and leaseholders to volunteer as Cleaning Monitors to help us keep an eye on the quality of cleaning standards on a regular basis. As a Cleaning Monitor you’ll need to compete a short survey once a month to report on the standard of cleaning in your block, and let us know if any improvements are needed. It’s a great way to help ensure that your block continues to look its best for you and your neighbours.

Did you know that, as well as volunteering as a Cleaning Monitor, you can also volunteer to help keep an eye on other services that we provide to your local area? From Green Space Monitors who report on grass cutting and open spaces, to Mystery Shoppers who go undercover to investigate areas of the housing service. There are lots of opportunities for you to get involved and to challenge us to improve the housing service for everyone. Just contact our Tenant Engagement Team for more details.

Finally, while our cleaners work hard, it’s also up to tenants and leaseholders to help keep blocks safe, clean and tidy. Please keep communal areas clear by making sure never to leave any rubbish, clutter or personal items in stairwells, landings, or foyers. This can create fire and safety hazards, as well as looking a mess.
