Energy saving and other works carried out to five tower blocks at Weston (International Way)
Background
British Gas Trading Limited (BGTL) carried out an energy-saving works programme at International Way between 2011 and 2014. These works included, External Wall Insulation (EWI), installation of new windows, installation of a resident controlled, district heating/hot water system and solar panels on the roof.
Issues were initially identified as part of works that were being carried out in the building which resulted in the council carrying out further investigations which also uncovered a greater range of issues in the works.
The council appointed independent, technical experts, to investigate these issues. These experts have and continue to inspect the issues raised at International Way. The issues relate to window installation, External Wall Insulation (EWI) and fire safety.
