You Said, We Did – turning tenant feedback into action!

We’re excited to announce the launch of our brand-new You Said, We Did webpage.

This dedicated online resource showcases the real changes we’re making based on what you have told us matters most.

It shows how we have listened to and acted on feedback from our tenants and leaseholders.

From service improvements to new initiatives; every update on this page is a direct response to your suggestions and requests. It’s our way of saying thank you for sharing your voice and helping us shape a better housing experience for everyone.

Some of the ways that we have taken action following feedback include:

  • When members of the Building Safety Group said they would like to learn more about fire safety to help with the group's work we organised a visit to Hightown Fire Station
  • After tenants said they wanted to see more housing staff in local neighbourhoods we planned a summer roadshow hosted by the Head of Housing at Shirley Towers, and we are hoping to hold more of these events in other areas of the city
  • Responding to customer feedback that letters from the council need to be easy to read and understand, we asked the Tenant Scrutiny Panel to regularly review our communications. Thanks to their input and recommendations we can help ensure whenever we write to you, we always use Plain English and avoid jargon
  • When tenants said they wanted to learn how to better hold us to account, our Tenant Engagement team organised a wide range of free courses and workshops to equip residents with more skills and knowledge.
  • After tenants in Tatwin Crescent, Thornhill raised concerns about the condition of the car park, the Decent Neighbourhoods team resurfaced and extended the car park and installed a new footpath
  • Listening to an appeal from residents at Shirley Towers about the need for a community space, we redecorated and reinstated a community room at the block

Find out more about other ways that we have taken action as a direct response to your requests and suggestions online.

And if you have an idea that could improve housing services please email our Tenant Engagement team or call us on 023 8083 3185.

If you would like to stay informed about national debate and policy changes on housing issues don’t forget to keep an eye on the TPAS website. TPAS is a not for profit organisation that champions tenant involvement and empowerment in social housing across England. As a tenant or leaseholder of Southampton City Council you can become a member of TPAS for free and can access their regular policy briefings and Housing Hotdesk updates.
