Raising awareness to help tackle ASB

Raising awareness to help tackle ASB
Running from 30 June for five days, antisocial behaviour (ASB) Awareness Week is all about educating the public about what ASB is, what can be done to tackle it, and the range of support and resources available for those affected.
ASB is any behaviour that causes alarm or distress to others. Examples include:
- Vandalism
- Graffiti
- Noise nuisance
- Harassment
- Abusive and threatening behaviour
- Littering
- Public drunkenness
We know that ASB can have a significant impact on the quality of life for residents and that victims can feel threatened, insecure and isolated. So it’s crucial that local communities know that support is available and understand how we work to keep neighbourhoods safe.
We do not tolerate any form of ASB in our council neighbourhoods. We work with partners like Hampshire Constabulary to tackle the issue and take action against perpetrators. This can range from using a mediation service to settle neighbour disputes to taking legal action and evicting those tenants who disturb the peace.
If you or your community is being affected by ASB it is important that you take a stand and know that there is support available to help you.
Report ASB
If you witness or experience antisocial behaviour, report it online or call 101. Remember, in an emergency situation always dial 999. Your actions can make a difference in creating a safer community.
Support for victims
There is a range of help and support available to those affected by ASB. Please talk to us for details about the resources and support services.
