Free fun this Easter

With school holidays just around the corner, we’ve put together some recommendations for local, free activities to help keep the kids entertained on a budget this Easter.

Free Activities and Food Programme

If your child is eligible to receive benefits-related free school meals you can sign them up for the free Southampton Holiday Activities and Food programme. It offers 4 to 16 year olds the opportunity to enjoy fun activities and a healthy meal every day during the Easter break. Kids can have a go at free activities including sports, arts and crafts, computers and cookery at various locations across the city. It’s a great opportunity to make new friends, strengthen old friendships, and learn new skills. Check out the full list of activities and book your child’s FREE place today!

Join the Easter trail adventure

Take part in a free family Easter trail for an egg-citing adventure in Southampton's Cultural Quarter between 4 and 21 April. Follow the map to find the Easter Bunny’s gardening tools which are hidden around the city. Once you've found them all, hop over to the final stop, SeaCity Museum, where children will receive a small prize for all their hard work. You can download and print your own free trail map, or find out where you can pick up a free copy in the city centre.

Pop into your local library

Southampton City Libraries have plenty of free, drop-in activities on offer to keep little ones entertained this Easter! Whether it be a fun craft themed around springtime animals, getting creative with LEGO in our construction clubs or an adventure into the world of Dungeons & Dragons – there's sure to be something amazing happening in your local library, find out what’s on offer near you.

Southampton ABP Marathon

Cheer on the runners competing in the ABP Southampton Marathon on Sunday 6 April. Celebrating its 10th Anniversary in 2025, the race starts at 9am in Guildhall Square. Our team of Junior Neighbourhood Wardens will be busy supporting the marathon runners by manning a water station at the event. It is just one of the many community activities and fun events that the free Junior Neighbourhood Warden scheme offers young people throughout the year.

Museums

Don’t forget our museums including Tudor House and Garden the City Art Gallery and SeaCity offer regular events and activities for all ages including school holiday programmes.
