Canberra Towers energy refurbishment project

Following the Housing Regulator audit the council must review and re-prioritise its services city wide and develop its Home Improvement Plan.

Any grant money awarded for this works would only have been received once the works had started. We have not received this grant or used this money for other works.

It means that Canberra Towers and other blocks are under review to ensure that the council can deliver its Home Improvement Plan and prioritise essential works first. This will mean that it is unlikely that the original works will now be completed.

We hope to update residents again in late summer. This page will also be kept updated and you can email us with any questions on the project email: canberratowerrefurb@southampton.gov.uk. 

The council are continuing its review, alongside the regulator and residents to develop its Home Improvement Plan. The council are committed to delivering the standard of services residents would expect.

This will continue to operate as usual. If the underfloor system fails then it will be replaced with storage heaters and the same maintenance applies.

Current costs to residents remain the same.

Replacement of windows is part of the current review. Should during this time you have any issues with your windows, then please continue to report a repair as normal. 

All balconies will remain the same until we have completed our review. For any repairs or issues please report a repair as normal.
