Mental health resources for everyone
In crisis or emergency
If you have urgent concerns about a mental health problem and need immediate help, you can:
- Call 111 and select the 'mental health' option – this is how to access the NHS urgent mental health triage helpline 24/7 for all ages. You can also go to 111 online
- Call the Samaritans on 116 123, for 24/7 telephone support
- Text “HANTS” to 85258, for 24/7 crisis text support
- Call on 0800 58 58 58 or use their webchat, from 5pm to midnight everyday, if you are struggling and need to talk
- Access video support, online chat, or call support through the Solent Mind Lighthouse ‘Attend Anywhere’ service, where you will be taken through to a virtual waiting room. The service runs from 4.30-11.30pm. Alternatively, drop-in at one of their two locations in Bitterne or Shirley (closes at 10.30pm) or text ‘Lighthouse to 07789 390 812
In a life-threatening emergency call 999 or visit A&E.

Every Mind Matters
The Every Mind Matters – NHS Better Health resource for adults and young people, offers expert advice and guidance to deal with stress and anxiety, boost mood, improve sleep, and help you feel more in control.

Visit NHS Mental Health for a wide range of information, advice, and services for mental health.
If you need further support, you can always contact your GP for an appointment to discuss how you are feeling. If you need support more urgently you can also request an emergency appointment.
If you are in school or college, you should have access to a range of pastoral support services, such as Emotional Literacy Support Assistants, Early Help Team including school nurses, and the Mental Health in Schools team. Speak to your school or college about what is available and how to access this support.
