COVID-19 Additional Relief Fund

The government announced the COVID-19 Additional Relief Fund (CARF) on 15 December 2021.

The main criteria for this fund will be:

  • only for businesses occupied and liable for business rates in 2021/22
  • relief must not be awarded to business ratepayers who for the same period of the relief either are or would have been eligible for: the Extended Retail Discount (covering Retail, Hospitality and Leisure), the Nursery Discount or the Airport and Ground Operations Support Scheme (AGOSS)
  • should support business ratepayers who have been adversely affected by the pandemic and have been unable to adequately adapt to that impact
  • to be eligible for relief you must be a ratepayer liable and occupying a property in the city of Southampton
  • if there is no business rates liability or other business rates relief (other than transitional relief) already granted to the business during the relief period, the business will not be eligible for this relief

The application process will commence early January 2022 and our policy once approved will be published on Southampton City Council website (COVID-19 section).

The award of CARF will mean the value awarded will be applied directly onto your business rates account, as a reduction.
