The Southampton Pound encompasses a range of measures intended to promote social value and community wealth building, underpinning our Green City Charter and other council policies such as the Social Value and Green City Procurement Policy.

Social Value advocates that businesses utilise progressive practices to deliver economic, environmental and social benefits through their activities. Community Wealth Building is the idea that money generated by Southampton’s economy should be retained within Southampton’s local economy.
