Register or change your Council Tax address
You need to tell us when you move in or out of an address within the SO14 to SO19 postcode area. This will make sure you receive the correct bill.
You still need to register even if you don't pay Council Tax.
You can find out if we are your local authority on the find your local council webpage on the GOV.UK website.
If you're new to Council Tax, we have a useful checklist to guide you through setting up your Council Tax.
For those moving into the area or changing address
There are different ways to tell us about a change of occupancy, depending on your situation.
Use the buttons below to find more information and a form which best applies if all occupants are moving into, within, or out of the same property.
For landlords or agents
If you are a landlord and wish to tell us about a change in tenants for one of your properties, you can complete our dedicated online form on the information for landlord and agents webpage.
For changes in occupancy
If a property is already occupied and there is a change in the household where some members are leaving and some are moving in, like student properties, you can fill in our change of occupancy online form.
Before you fill in this form
You won't be able to save this form to complete later, so please allow yourself 10 minutes to fill in the form.
You will need:
- Council Tax account number
- Address of the property
- Who, if any, are moving in plus the move in date, if they are student, and their home (family) address
- Who, if any, are moving out plus the move out date and a forwarding address.
- If students are moving in who are not enrolled at University of Southampton or Solent University, or are at these universities but have not agreed for data to be shared with us, you will need to upload their student certificate.
Students moving into student housing can find Council Tax information and more on our life events pages.
