Your appointed proxy can vote on your behalf at your polling station or by post (known as a postal proxy) – if your proxy chooses to vote for you by post, they will need to make a separate application.
If you are a registered elector in the city of Southampton, you may apply to vote by proxy at any time during the year. However, if you apply for a specific election the application must be completed (online) or delivered to Electoral Services (paper) no later than the deadline published on the relevant election timetable.
Should you appoint a proxy but then find you are able to attend the polling station to vote in person, you can do so providing your proxy has not already voted on your behalf. If your proxy has applied to vote by post, you will not be able to vote.
