About this course
This course is for teachers who are new to Year 6 or have not taught in Year 6 for some time. Delegates had the opportunity to reflect on maths teaching in Year 6 with a presentation from the Maths Hub, focusing on planning and teaching the different content domains.
Delegates discussed the key messages from the updated Reading Framework and explored the 2024 Reading paper, considering the implications of both for teaching reading in Year 6.
Delegates developed a greater understanding of the Teacher Assessment Framework and how to use this to assess pupil’s writing. They became more confident in what writing at the expected standard and greater depth looks like, and considered how to adapt teaching in Year 6 to support pupils to meet this.
Delegates learned about the systems and processes for statutory assessment in Year 6.
