Needle collections
Sharps boxes are for the collection of used syringes and needles only.
To sign up for the service, you will need to first be referred by your GP or a healthcare professional. You can use NHS Find a GP to contact your local surgery.
We will deliver the first box and then you will need to request a collection when the box is filled to the line indicated.
Once your request is validated, our customer services team will add your request to the next available sharps collection round. You will be notified by email as to when the collection will take place.
Requesting your sharps box to be collected
If you have signed up for the service and your box is filled to the level indicated, you can arrange for your box to be collected. Please check:
- The box is filled to the level indicated
- The box is not overfilled and can be locked
When we collect your full sharps box, we will automatically supply a replacement.

Report a missed clinical waste collection
Before you contact us to report your missed clinical waste collection, please check your collection wasn't missed because of one of the following:
- Have you previously contacted us to request a clinical waste collection? You will need to request a collection when your box is filled to the line indicated
- Was your clinical waste box clearly visible to the collection crew? Clinical waste boxes should be left in an accessible and visible location outside the front of your property
- Was your clinical waste box left out before 8am? Our collection crews always begin their rounds at 8am, so please ensure that your bin is visible to crews from this time
- Was your clinical waste box left out on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday? Collections are made on Mondays (except bank holidays), Tuesdays and Wednesdays, between 8am and 3pm
