Information for students about household waste
We want to help you get to grips with responsibilities you now have as a resident of Southampton. As a tenant you (and not the landlord) are responsible for making sure all your household waste is disposed of properly. Please note, if bins are repeatedly left on the street you could be issued with a £60 fine.
Everyone living in the house is responsible for the bins. This includes:
- Putting the correct waste in the bins
- Putting bins out for collection
- Returning them back to your property after they have been emptied
Please remember to be a good neighbour by keeping your street and garden clean and tidy. It is also important you look after your front garden and not let litter build up, as this could result in a fine.
