60+ Floating Support Service
Specialist support to help you to live in your own home for as long as possible, whether your home is rented or owned.
Available for people over 60 years old but over 50 in certain circumstances. We can support with a range of activities and also signpost to other services which might be chargeable.

SCC Housing for over 50s and 60s
Small blocks of purpose-built flats, either for over 50s or over 60s, for people who wish to live with others of a similar age. These blocks do not have any communal facilities.
Those residents aged over 60, that require support from staff will receive a visit and support, tailored to the individuals need.
Each flat is self-contained, with its own front door and privacy, and benefits from 24-hour emergency pull cord system and floating support for those who need it.
SCC 60+ Complexes
Complexes are for people over the age of 60, with some for those over 55, who wish to live in a supported environment with people of a similar age.
Complexes have an office and support staff are generally available most of the working week, Monday to Friday, unless dealing with issues or visits - they will not be permanently office based. Residents that require support from staff will receive a visit and support, tailored to the individuals need.
Each flat is self-contained, with its own front door and privacy, and benefits from 24-hour emergency pull cord system. There are communal facilities such as a lounge for social activities for those who wish to join in and there are laundry facilities in some of the complexes.
Extra Care Housing or Housing with Care
Extra care housing complexes are usually for people over the age of 60. A Health Care provider is onsite and available 24 hours a day, for those individuals with an identified care need.
Support staff are also onsite Monday to Friday during the day, unless dealing with issues or visits - they will not be permanently office based. Residents that require support from staff will receive a visit and support, tailored to the individuals need.
There are communal facilities such as a lounge for social activities for those who wish to join in. There are additional facilities such as laundry and café onsite (these vary according to scheme).
With all our Supported Housing, we can support with a range of activities and signpost to other services. However, some services may make a charge. There is a support charge included in the rent, which remains payable, regardless of the level of support received. This charge covers the following services: -
- Weekly welfare check (optional)
- Continuous monitoring of a telecare alarm system
- Emergency response (when needed, including out of hours)
- Advice, information, and support related to my housing.
- Annual review of support needs, to include update of any medical conditions and contacts, Next of Kin etc.
Apply for accommodation
To apply for any of these types of council accommodation you will need to be eligible to join the Housing Register. There is strict criteria to apply and not everyone is eligible.
