Where to get support
It is our aim to assist you to live as independently as possible. A wide range of services available to support your independence can be found on our directory. We also provide a range of services for adult residents with long and short term health and care needs.
Together with the clinical commissioning group, the NHS and voluntary organisations, we work to make sure that you have access to the services that you need.
We also offer advice and support to carers and relatives of people needing or receiving our services.
Below are some details of the services that are available to you along with guidance on assessing your individual needs:
Food delivery
There are many food delivery options across Southampton, visit our directory to find out more.
Careline
Careline is an alarm system to help reassure you that you are safe in your own home. This will mean that in emergency situations, help is never far away.
Careline consists of an alarm in your home and a pendant that can be worn around the house. This equipment connects to a local monitoring and responding team that make sure you get help when an alarm is raised.
This means that if you trip or take a fall in your own home, the Careline team will be able to send help as soon as you press your alarm. This help is available 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
See further information about Careline systems. You can also view the City Telecare Services Annual Report 2018.
Extra Care Housing
The Extra Care schemes in Southampton are able to provide you with the security and privacy of your own home alongside a range of facilities and support on the premises, with 24 hour care provision if you require it.
For more information about this service, you can view our Extra Care Housing page.

Community services
Southampton has a rich and diverse offer of community groups, services and activities that can help people improve their wellbeing and live happier, healthier lives. However, it can often be difficult to know where to start or how to access them.
So:Linked Community Navigators are available to help people navigate around the many activities, support and community groups across the city. We support anyone over 18 who is a Southampton resident or registered with a Southampton GP surgery. Working holistically, we help people to explore their interests or what they feel would help them, then support them to navigate it. We have three teams of Navigators based at Solent Mind, the Alzheimer’s Society and Spectrum CIL who each bring their expertise to help those referred to us. Find out more about Community Navigators.
Before referring to our Navigators, you could access our database: SOLID. SOLID contains hundreds of groups, services, events, activities and opportunities which can be filtered according to support need, interest and postcode. You can use SOLID to signpost people directly to services in the city.
