Adult safeguarding referrals for residents
Safeguarding means protecting adults at risk, enabling them to live safely and free from abuse and neglect. Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility.
An adult at risk is someone who:
- Has care and support needs
- Is at risk of being abused or neglected
- Is unable to protect themselves against abuse or neglect because of those needs
If you would like to talk to us about the abuse or neglect before making a referral, please phone us on 023 8083 3003.
We can take several actions, including:
- Listening, helping and supporting the person
- Working with them to stop the abuse and protect them or others from further harm
- Supporting the person and their carers through the process
- If a crime has been committed, we will work with the police
- Being available to offer support in the future
- If we cannot help, they will find out who can
All matters will be handled confidentially. However, if the issues concern evidence of a crime or unacceptable risk, this may be shared with the appropriate authorities.
If you are a professional, use our safeguarding referrals for professionals.
If the person is at risk due to unmet needs rather than abuse or neglect, use our self-assessment tool.
