Collaborative Behaviour-focused Consultation (CBC)
A CBC can be purchased by school/college staff and is a specialist problem solving consultation which applies both a functional analysis to help understand a child or young person’s behaviour and the multi-element model to aid action planning. There are three levels of CBC delivery which can be negotiated with your link Educational Psychologist (EP) depending on the presenting needs, previous EP involvement and the agreed objectives of the CBC:
CBC 'Lite' – 1 day minimum
- Class teacher or Special Educational Need Co-ordinator (SENCo) consultation and multi-element planning facilitated by one EP
- Review meeting
- Summary and review records
CBC 'Classic' – 1.5 days minimum
- Extended key staff consultation and multi-element planning meeting (which can include parents/carers) facilitated by two EPs
- Review meeting
- Summary and review records
CBC 'Plus' – 2 days minimum
- Classroom observation and individual work with CYP
- Key staff consultation
- Multi-element planning meeting (which can include parents/carers) facilitated by two EPs
- Review meeting
- Summary record or casework report (to be negotiated)
- Review Record
