Lights, camera, action in Holyrood!

Budding film makers in Holyrood are invited to get involved in making a movie about their local community. A series of free workshops are taking place this month where young people can learn what it takes to create a dance film, both in front and behind the camera.

Organised by ZoieLogic Dance Theatre company, the exciting workshops are open to anyone aged 6 to 16 who is interested in learning about various aspects of filmmaking including, editing, directing, sound and costume design. Participants will then be able to put their new skills to use by helping to create a new film production about the estate and its residents.

It’s the latest initiative as part of the We Are Holyrood project, which, for the past four years, has been ‘shining a light on the local community’ to help raise aspirations and celebrate the estate and everyone who proudly calls it home. Thanks to the project, many local people have got involved with free cultural activities, including dance performances, filmmaking and creative events.

Local resident Sam Connis, who is now Community Engagement Manager with ZoieLogic Dance Theatre, says:

“The project makes me so proud of Holyrood; it shows the great sense of community spirit that can exist on the estate”.

If you (or someone you know in Holyrood) are aged 6 to 16 and would like to sign up for the free film making workshops taking place on 2,16 and 30 March and also on 9-12 April, please email ZoieLogic Dance Theatre or call 0734 2491439.
