Is it time to downsize?
Is it time to downsize?
If you’re struggling to maintain a bigger home or garden, or you’re having trouble getting up and down the stairs it‘s probably a good time to think about downsizing. And if you’re over 55, a move into one of our supported housing flats could be the answer.
Despite common misconceptions supported housing isn’t just for elderly, frail or vulnerable people. In fact, most of our supported housing residents are fit and active and enjoy living independent lifestyles without any involvement from us. Each flat is self-contained, offering you your own front door and privacy, but with the knowledge that when the time comes, we’re on hand to offer support if needed in the future.
We have supported housing schemes in neighbourhoods across the city, mostly for the over 60s but some are available for over 55s as well. Living in one of our supported housing complexes offers you lots of benefits such as:
- A purpose-built, self-contained flat that is easy to maintain
- A quiet and peaceful neighbourhood
- A safe and well looked after environment
- The opportunity to be surrounded by caring and like-minded neighbours
- A balcony or patio area (on some properties)
- Onsite (or nearby) community facilities where you can join in social events and activities if you want to
- 24-hour emergency pull cord and access to Telecare if needed
- Support staff on site most days
We currently have vacancies in some of our supported housing flats right now. Find out if you’re eligible to apply and check our current vacancies online using Homebid.
For those people who require extra help and support to live independently, we offer a number of housing with care schemes across the city. Like supported housing schemes, these flats provide residents with the security and privacy of their own home, but alongside a range of extra facilities and additional support onsite. Housing with care schemes also offer 24-hour care provision if required. Our latest housing with care development, Potters Court, is currently under construction in Maybush; find out more in next month’s issue of Tenants’ Link.
